Rifts and passive margins

There is good reason to believe that rifts and passive margins will be productive sources of hydrocarbons well into the future. Finding new resources will include searching for deeper targets, by-passed resources and probing types of crusts other than continental crust. It will also include application of numerous predictive hydrocarbon screening tools developed from the systematic knowledge of hydrocarbon-producing mechanisms and their controlling factors. Many new technical tools are now available for new discoveries or the more efficient recovery of known reserves. This course is based on the book that gathers the existing knowledge necessary for this endeavor and points to likely directions of continued hydrocarbon exploration and development in rifts and passive margins in the future.
